Why do so many people support illegal immigration? By its very name, we're talking about an illegal process, yet there are Americans fighting for the rights of illegal immigrants’ everyday. There are Liberals who wait by the shores, waiting for wayward immigrants to swim in so they can assist them in reaching the beach safely. Don't these people realize what they are doing to the American economic system as well as the value we place on being true Americans?

We're not just talking about Liberals coddling immigrants here, however. There are many Republican "closeted" immigrant supporters who, as long as they are making a buck from the immigrants will drag them to freedom too, just in a different way.

Immigration continues and is supported by many of the very people who publicly shun illegal immigration and speak of keeping our borders closed. Immigration and low-income worker exploitation is profitable for American companies as well as some smaller businesses. Both American and immigrant workers are exploited in this way -- immigrants are paid a lower than livable wage, have no benefits and a horrid quality of life, and risk deportation and separation from their families each day, and Americans lose the very jobs they desperately need. The only people who actually benefit from using immigrant workers are at the top of a corporation or the helm of a smaller business. And people will get away with with what they can get away with! Realistically, everyone is trying a save a penny -- and who more than large corporations?

Legal immigrants also get devalued and suspected in the process. Many have immigrated to America and put in the work to get their Visa. If illegal Americans continue to get rights and be paid by American companies, in the long run what does that say about the values we have for true Americans? The jobs that many illegal immigrants are working, some say these are jobs that wouldn't be done otherwise by many Americans and that these are jobs that make life bearable for the rest of us. However, I would challenge that as there are plenty of legal Americans that will do whatever it takes to support their family with pride and will take a legitimate job to earn his or her right to live in this great country.
